It's one of those weeks around Middle Georgia where the trees just seem to sing in color. Everywhere you look there are bright colors of orange and red and yellow popping through the greens. It's one of the things I love most about fall, just how incredibly magical these few weeks are. Between the sunshine and the trees, it's easy to look outside and remember that our Creator made this world and made it good.

Probably because it is so pretty outside, but also because we are back in the swing of things, there is so much going on in the calendar both in the community and in the life of the church. Everywhere you look people seem to want to celebrate being outside and being together.

This weekend at church, we have one of my very favorite Highland Hills events, the Fall Family Festival. I love that we do this. We throw a marvelous party for the neighborhood and anyone and everyone is invited. The courtyard will be filled with inflatables. There will be lots of snow cones and hot dogs, lots of cakes, and hopefully lots of costumes. Everything about this event feels a bit magical. This magic is bringing the kingdom of God to our neighborhood. This is the good news of Christ made visible in our world.

I hope you will consider joining us this Sunday as we welcome the neighborhood in our backyard. Come in your silly costumes, or just ready to be a welcoming face. Come join us in the good work of making something beautiful in our neighborhood!
